Today Sri Lanka (Ceylon) is famous for its tea but did you know that in the first half of the 1800s it was Ceylon coffee that was served across the world?

Unfortunately, Sri Lanka is in the news but not for this reason.

Sri Lanka floods are causing a lot of victims. So much so that the UN is asking for $51 million in order to support the survivors.

More than 1 million people have been affected by the floods.

There were an average of 10,000 refugees in camps waiting for food and drinking water.

In general, Sri Lanka has 2 rainy seasons (Monsoon):

  • May to September
  • December to February.

But this time it is worse than ever.

The damages are estimated at $500 million and agriculture has suffered too. This is a chain reaction where food is now becoming a major issue.
