When going on holiday either abroad or in the same country, it is always good to bring something back…we aren’t talking photographs or shared snaps on social media but a real souvenir.

Coffee culture is becoming more and more important for the majority of British caffeine lovers. So…what about expanding the market of coffee shops?

Most of them are already selling brewing equipments such as:

It is not about postcards… but maybe coasters, little fridge magnets or even t-shirts?! Look Mum No Hands (LMNH) are already on the case with a dedicated page on their website (More details HERE).

However, is this something that customers are after or would it destroy the magical image of espresso bars/coffee shops?

We could also ask/add: what about pubs and restaurants then?

Should social/public places become more than just a meeting point to interact, communicate and enjoy the flavours of a drink/dish?!

A rather controversial subject, where there will certainly be people wanting that little bit extra and others willing to keep the business as simple as possible. Because catering/hospitality industry is mainly about delivering quality food and drink and not dealing with anything else as it is already demanding.

But it is understandable that now and again, it is a nice touch to be able to take something away from a favourite place – without actually taking it illegally! Sadly, this happens too. Probably tea spoons are the most stolen items from hotels/restaurants/coffee shops.

Alternatively and without clashing with the customer service level of the business, a specific and separate web-store could be a win-win solution. In other words, the visitor goes for a drink and meal and if she/he wants to get a product from this unforgettable experience, the digital page would be able to show whatever the person wants and unconsciously drive extra sales when browsing the products’ list. A clever way – maybe – to increase the monthly turnover?!
